Citizen Kane extract analysis

Cinematography is used in many aspects of the extract to create meaning. The establishing shot is a close up of a gate, that slowly pans up towards the top. This connotes a dark and gloomy image, evident from the slow pace, also that it can build up a darker climax within the extract. the sound is non-diegetic, which is menacing music, this connotes that something more sinister is afoot and creating a malevolent feel to the scene. As the extract continues, there is a fade-to-black, to a long shot of a creepy castle sitting in the distance, this can represent the designated scene for the breaking point of what is going to happen, but also surfaces and enigma code of whats the significance of  the castle? why is it used?
The extract moves on to an extreme close up of a snow globe representing that it is winter, as well as Christmas being around the corner. Although it could also suggest that the person holding the snow globe could have an aspiration to have an actual family in the house of the snow globe and even see first snow before he passes away. Then there is a point-of-view shot through the snow globe, this could present that we are looking from the perspective of the protagonist, who is witnessing the last moments of his life.
