Hypodermic Needle theory

The news article links to the theory as it was published by the Daily mail and it portrays the idea that if video games are played for 20 minutes each day it encourages aggressive behaviour. The Daily mail is widely spread and very influential so if readers read this they are going to develop a negative opinion in video games like Call Of Duty, and are least likely going to buy games for themselves or their children.   

Two Step Flow Model

The article on Jamal Edwards links to the two step flow model as he became famous based on the things he did, so this makes him stand out and since he is so famous and well off there are larger number of people going to look up to him, as an opinion leader.

Uses and gratifications

Diversion

The media text I have chosen represents a world renowned comic book company, known as Marvel. This fits in to diversion as it accounts as a method to get away from reality and just relax and be entertained with some cartoons and chill out. The comics contain larger than life characters that present the battle between good and evil.          

Personnel Relationships

Family guy is a comedy show based on a family of 5 and their dog, the show presents situation about their lives, their characters develop emotions for them, for example Meg who is disliked by everyone. 

Personnel Identity

Educating Yorkshire is a documentary about a school, and the lives of students. This makes students/teenagers that watch it identify with them and relate with the problems they have. 

Surveillance 

This links to Surveillance as the people tend to use E-media and TV to learn useful information and in this case the weather in the area. This can help them with an idea of what to wear and to see if its hot or cold. 

Dependency Theory

1)     The dependency theory is primarily used for entertainment; this is due to the fact that there are so many applications that can be downloaded easily like Face book, twitter, instagram, etc. All these apps are used for entertainment and socializing with friends.

2)     In my opinion, we are dependent on the media to a large extent. This is because more and more people are being reliant on technology for basic things, as they are easy.

3)     Personally, our dependency on the media has changed to a large extent as the internet took a large rise within the last 10 years. The application of internet has been given more importance.
