BBC 3
BBC 3 is a television channel which is a part of the BBC broadcasting. The channel’s target audience is based around 16-34 year olds. Their purpose is to provide innovative content to younger audiences that focus on new talent and new technology. The channel airs from 19:00-05:00 every night. The programming of the channel is 90% an output of the UK. This makes it stand out as it is mainly British based. The genre of programming is wide ranged. They show drama, current affairs, comedy and animation. The current controller of the station is Zai Bennett. BBC 3 faces heavy competition from ITV2 and E4. On average, nine million people watch BBC Three every week and it has a 2.6% share of the 15–34-year-old audience and 1.4% of the whole population, according to the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB). 
History

BBC Choice was rebranded to BBC 3 in February 2003. It was launched by Stuart Murphy, who had run BBC Choice. Stuart Murphy was the youngest channel controller in the country at the age of 33. Murphy left in 2005 to work in commercial TV. On May 2011, BBC 3 was added to the Sky EPG in the Republic of Ireland on channel 229, and later moved to channel 210, on 3rd July 2012. For the duration of the 2012 summer Olympics, BBC 3 increased its broadcasting hours to 24 hours for the extra coverage of the Olympics. In July 2013, the BBC announced HD broadcast of BBC 3, which will be launched by early 2014.
